About 1 in 10 Americans has chronic insomnia, and many aren't finding relief from pills.

But it can be hard to find. A form of treatment called cognitive behavioral therapy, which doesn't use drugs, works. So proponents of the treatment are trying new ways to get the treatment to troubled nonsleepers.

Psychologist Christina McCrae realizes those numbers don't seem huge, but she says, "I thought it was important to bring attention to the fact that it might save money in the long run." How Come Sleeping Pills Dont Work On Me? Am I An Alien? - Find

Most over the counter sleeping pills will not work if you cannot relax. They don't put you to sleep they only aid in the falling asleep process. If you are watching tv.

Yes your an alien.

I feel so embarrassed asking my doctor to try some thing else! I don't drink much or take drugs! I guess my body just rejects it or metabolism won't allow it! Am I the only one with the same problem? I have even done the whole sleep study thing with no result!. I have tried numerous types from stilnox to hypndorm and nothing works for me! I guess some people feel more of the placebo effect.

matabilism, over use or wrong meds, see a doctor Full Site.

I find that unless my stomach is compley empty and I have drunk nothing but water they will not work on me either, also I need to allow a few hours for them to kick in. I need to take sleeping pills basically anytime I absoluy need to fall asleep before 4:00am.

:-D. You sure are an alien, but that doesn't matter. Just drink yourself into oblivion and pass out like I do.

They don't put you to sleep they only aid in the falling asleep process. If you are watching tv, or something that keeps your brain moving you probably won't fall asleep. Try this trick I learned, while lying down start with your toes and tense them up, 3 times in a row, then relax them, work your way up tensing everypart of your body 3 times, by time you have done every part of you will drop off, because your body feels so good and relaxed. Most over the counter sleeping pills will not work if you cannot relax.
