Fatal dose not known. Symptoms In the cases of overdosage reported the main effects are drowsiness, lethargy and ataxia. Rarely, A-V block.

Management should include general symptomatic and supportive measures including a clear airway and monitoring cardiac and vital signs until stable. Management Consider activated charcoal if an adult has ingested more than 150 mg or a child more than 1.5 mg/kg within one hour. It has a short half-life (about an hour). NOT TO BE USED IN MIXED OVERDOSE OR AS A "DIAGNOSTIC" TEST. If CNS depression is severe consider the use of flumazenil.

The recommended dose is 7.5mg zopiclone by the oral route shortly before. in adults within 1 hour of a potentially life-threatening overdose.

Use in pregnancy is therefore not recommended. Experience of use of zopiclone during pregnancy in humans is limited although there have been no adverse findings in animals. If the product is prescribed to a woman of child bearing potential, she should be advised to contact her physician about stopping the product if she intends to become pregnant, or suspects that she is pregnant. Infants born to mothers who took benzodiazepines or benzodiazepine- like agents chronically during the latter stages of pregnancy may have developed physical dependence and may be at some risk of developing withdrawal symptoms in postnatal period.

What Are the Signs of a Zopiclone Overdose? (with pictures)

4 days ago Signs of a zopiclone overdose may vary widely depending on the amount of medication taken as well as whether alcohol or other drugs were.

Without immediate medical attention, a zopiclone overdose can prove to be fatal. The muscles that control respiration may slow down considerably due to a zopiclone overdose and can cause breathing to become difficult. When this occurs, a loss of consciousness is possible, sometimes leading to coma. Emergency services should be contacted any time that an overdose is suspected so that life support measures can begin before the patient reaches the hospital. Heart function may also be affected, leading to irregular heartbeat or a sudden drop in blood pressure.

However, a few of the cases were serious and the patients went into respiratory or cardiac arrest.

Zopiclone, quantitated by HPLC in femoral postmortem blood, was found to be 1.9 mg/L (4.8 micromol/L). She overdosed herself with probably 200 to 350 mg of zopiclone. We report a case where only zopiclone was detected. The death of a 72-year-old woman with respiratory debilitation due to bronchogenic carcinoma is described. This level is higher than many other zopiclone fatalities reported.
