This article is about the antibiotic Roxithromycin. For the. Adults: 150 mg twice a day or 300 mg once a day, 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after.

Less common side effects include central or peripheral nervous system events such as headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and also the rarely seen rashes, abnormal liver function values and alteration in senses of smell and taste. Most common side effects are gastrointestinal; diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.

German pharmaceutical company Hoechst Uclaf brought out roxithromycin in 1987.

Most of roxithromycin is secreted unchanged into the bile and some in expired air. Under 10% is excreted into the urine.

Roxithromycin 150 mg tablets are indicated for the treatment of the following mild to moderay severe infections in children caused by or likely to be caused by susceptible micro-organisms: acute pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, impetigo. Roxithromycin is indicated for the treatment of the following types of mild to moderay severe infections caused by or likely to be caused by susceptible micro-organisms. Children. Adults. Appropriate culture and sensitivity tests should be performed when necessary to determine organism susceptibility and thus treatment suitability.
