Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome - Wikipedia, the free

"A double-blind comparison of the effects of gradual withdrawal of lorazepam, diazepam and bromazepam in benzodiazepine dependence". The British Journal.

Some people may not fully stabilize between dose reductions, even when the rate of reduction is slowed. Such people sometimes simply need to persist as they may not feel better until they have been fully withdrawn from them for a period of time. Long half-life benzodiazepines like diazepam or chlordiazepoxide are preferred to minimize rebound effects, and are available in low potency dose forms.

Withdrawal From Diazepam After Long Term Benzodiazepine Use

Withdrawing from diazepam after long term use is not easy to do and dosage reductions must be done slowly to avoid serious physical and mental withdrawal.

Some individuals may want or feel it necessary to go even slower than the rates shown below and some may want or feel they can go quicker. We advocate that the individual takes responsibility for their own rate of withdrawal according to their own body's response to dose reductions. It is the individuals choice. We do believe however and agree with the statement in the B.N.F (British National Formulary) that it is better to reduce benzodiazepines too slowly than it is to reduce them too quickly!.

Eye achiness is a big symptom. Thanks again. I just found Somnapure, and was taking it for three nights, while tapering down from only 2mg of Clonazapam, then a week of half, and a day or two of half again. I find it causes an immediate bad nights sleep…or even many, until I start taking it again. Last night was the first night of none at all, and bam, the sleepless “nights from the Hot place” are right back. Now, I understand why 3 day attempts were useless, and I hope this one week taper will be enough.
