Mothers taking pharmacologic doses of corticosteroids should be advised not to nurse. Corticosteroids appear in breast milk and could suppress growth, interfere with endogenous corticosteroid production, or cause other unwanted effects.

Musculoskeletal Muscle weakness Steroid myopathy Loss of muscle mass Osteoporosis Vertebral compression fractures Aseptic necrosis of femoral and humeral heads Pathologic fracture of long bones Tendon rupture.

By intra-articular or soft tissue injection: As adjunctive therapy for short-term administration (to tide the patient over an acute episode or exacerbation) in: Synovitis of osteoarthritis Rheumatoid arthritis Acute and subacute bursitis Acute gouty arthritis Epicondylitis Acute nonspecific tenosynovitis Post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Each 2 ml contains 6.6 mg dexamethasone (as sodium phosphate) which is titrate the dose against disease activity (See Warnings Section).

Elderly. Dosage requirements are variable and may have to be changed according to individual need. Treatment should be limited to the minimum dosage for the shortest possible time. Growth and development of infants and children on prolonged corticosteroid therapy should be carefully monitored. In order to minimise suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and growth retardation, treatment should be limited, where possible, to a single dose on alternate days. Usually 167 micrograms/kg to 333 micrograms/kg (0.05 ml/kg to 0.1 ml/kg) of body weight daily.

Sodium Phosphates Injection, USP, 3 mmol/mL (millimoles/mL), is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, WARNING: This product contains aluminum that may be toxic.

15 mL Single Dose Vial Rx only.

Concurrent use with thiazides may cause renal damage.

About a third of these reports come from outside the United States. Health Canada reports are based on 328,910 reports submitted to the Canada Vigilance Adverse Reaction Online Database from January 1, 1965, to March 31, 2014. FDA reports are based on 5.1 million reports submitted to the FDA's MedWatch from January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2013. These contain 373,833 suspected drugs, suspected of causing 904,403 side effects.
