Molecular formula, NaH2PO4 phosphate (NaH2PO4), also known as anhydrous monobasic sodium phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate, is an.

Sodium dihydrogen phosphate.

One of many sodium phosphates, it is a common industrial chemical. Monosodium phosphate (NaH 2 PO 4 ), also known as anhydrous monobasic sodium phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate, is an inorganic compound of sodium with dihydrogen phosphate (H 2 PO 4 -) anion. It exists as an anhydrous salt, as well as mono- and dihydrates.

The pKa of monosodium phosphate is 6.8-7.2 (depending on the physicochemical characteristics during pKa determination). The salt is obtained by partial neutralization of phosphoric acid.

Phosphates are often used in foods and in water treatment. The pH of such formulations is generally adjusted by mixtures of various sodium phosphates, such as this salt. It is soluble in 4.5 parts water. The sodium chloride equivalent value, or E-Value, is 0.49.

DailyMed - MONOBASIC SODIUM PHOSPHATE AND DIBASIC

There have been rare, but serious reports of acute phosphate nephropathy in patients who received oral sodium phosphate products for colon.

These fatalities have been observed in patients with renal insufficiency, in patients with bowel perforation, and in patients who misused or overdosed sodium phosphate products. It is recommended that patients receiving monobasic sodium phosphate and dibasic sodium phosphate tablets be advised to adequay hydrate before, during, and after the use of monobasic sodium phosphate and dibasic sodium phosphate tablets.
