A registered health information technician uses computer programs to collect and RHITs are experts in medical terminology, computer technology and disease.

Some hospitals offer in-house development programs for new professionals. Licensing and/or Certification. RHITs receive extensive on-the-job training.

Health information technology careers give professionals remarkable new The timing for such a career choice could not be better, as American medical.

In 2004, HHS established the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT), charged with facilitating the use of EHRs in the US by 2014. This was followed in 2005 by the founding of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) to create a set of standards for EHRs and their supporting networks and to certify products meeting those standards.

Today, about 50% of all doctors and hospitals are now using EHRs.
