What about purchased mp3 and video files? If one is buying, either through Amazon or through iTunes, is it possible to play purchased media on a Nexus device?

ditto for the Nook HD, only with Barnes & Noble content. .

For many customers, this spec trumps all others. This is where the two iPads shine. The App Store has over 275,000 tablet-specific apps. None of the other platforms come close.

All of the tablets can be used in either portrait or landscape, but the Surface RT and Nexus 10 are the only ones intended primarily for landscape.

Our Verdict: Like its predecessor (the HD 7), the MeMO Pad 7 redefines what a budget tablet can be, in a snappy Atom-based 7-incher ideal for students, children, and tablet first-timers.

Toshiba plays serious offense on price with two new Windows tablets and a budget-priced 7-inch Android.

ASUS Nexus 7 review - Engadget

Google's first Nexus tablet is a home run, besting the Kindle Fire and handily securing the position of the best budget 7-inch Technology Review Jul 2, 2012.

It truly is a premium device (with a few compromises) at an impulse purchase price level. At $199 I find it hard to not recommend the Nexus 7. I have found it fit into my usage patterns whether it be for checking RSS feeds, watching movies or reading books.

Also, there has been quite a spate of updates. I've just had this tablet for a few days but I'm loving it. While I understand there is a lack of quality tablet optimized apps on Android, the 7 inch screen mitigates this somewhat as phone interfaces don't look so alien in most well designed apps.

The Nexus 7 does this by offering smartly designed, powerful hardware and the best Android tablet experience to date.
