Capsule, red/turquoise, imprinted with RESTORIL 30 mg, FOR SLEEP Do not use this medication if you are allergic to temazepam or to other benzodiazepines.

You may fall asleep very quickly after taking the medicine. Take temazepam only when you are getting ready for several hours of sleep.

Stop using temazepam and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

Temazepam is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). Temazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems ( insomnia ).

Before taking temazepam, l your doctor if you have any breathing problems, glaucoma, kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis, or a history of depression, suicidal thoughts, or addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Temazepam should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction.

The United States Air Force uses temazepam as one of the hypnotics approved as "no-go pills" to help aviators and special-duty personnel sleep in support of.

The unchanged drug was 96% bound to plasma proteins. The blood-level decline of the parent drug was biphasic, with the short half-life ranging from 0.4-0.6 hours and the terminal half-life from 3.5–18.4 hours (mean 8.8 hours), depending on the study population and method of determination. No active metabolites were formed and the only significant metabolite present in blood was the O-conjugate. Oral administration of 15 to 45 mg of temazepam in man resulted in rapid absorption with significant blood levels achieved in less than 30 minutes and peak levels at two to three hours.
